Areas of Practice: Labor and Employment Law
Tim Jacob practices exclusively in the areas of Labor and Employment Law on the Management side. He represents clients of all sizes both in the private and public sectors. Concentrating in labor and employment law for his entire legal career, he has extensive experience in the negotiation and administration of labor contracts, labor arbitrations, work stoppages, representation of employers in union elections and in aiding employers in lawfully maintaining union-free environments.
He advises and defends employers in wage and hour as well as employee benefits and other ERISA matters. He represents employers in the defense of employment discrimination, FMLA, and wrongful discharge matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Ohio Civil Rights Commission, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, Federal District Courts and Courts of Appeals and Ohio State Courts.
He has also practiced extensively before the National Labor Relations Board, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and various sections of the United States Department of Labor, as well as Ohio unemployment agencies, the Pennsylvania Labor Relations Board and the Ohio State Employee Relations Board. He provides day-to-day counsel on a full range of labor and personnel issues, including management rights in disciplining and terminating employees, and both drafts and reviews employment handbooks, contracts, covenants not to compete and other employer policies.
His clients include employers in the healthcare, manufacturing, retail establishment, service, banking, energy generation, broadcasting and publishing, transportation and construction industries, as well as public sector and non-profit employers.
He is frequent lecturer on employment law, labor relations, employment discrimination and harassment and occupational safety and health issues at internal seminars and training programs for clients and before outside groups. He provides training programs for clients in all aspects of employment law and labor relations.
