James G. Floyd, a seasoned Attorney, has experience across a broad range of financial and commercial areas including commercial real estate transactions, commercial property management and leasing, construction, representation of design professionals, complex quiet title and real estate litigation, commercial litigation, creditor’s rights, creditor’s bankruptcy, and Uniform Commercial Code matters. Jim has represented creditors, trustees and committees in cases under Chapter 7, 11 and 12 of the bankruptcy code as well as in the non-bankruptcy arena as a State Court Receiver for the control and liquidation of large real estate developments as well as also served as an assignee for the assignment of the benefit of creditors.

Resulting from Jim’s experience in commercial transactions representing financial institutions, representing U.S. bankruptcy trustees, representing real estate developers, and creditors, he has been appointed by courts to serve as a Receiver; in addition, he has been engaged for the “work-out” for businesses as well as their liquidation and the liquidation of real estate. Further, Jim has also been engaged as an expert witness. The courts also have appointed him in complex commercial and construction matters as a Mediator, as he has completed the mediation training protocols. Jim has also served as an engaged Mediator for construction contract disputes.

Jim served as the Chairman and elected board member on the statutory Western Reserve Port Authority as well as the organizing Director and Chairman of the statutory Trumbull County Transit Board. From his experience and service on these boards he has an understanding and background in bonds issued in the form of tax exempt securities as well as the grant process both from the Federal and State government agencies. He also has experience and knowledge for the necessary criteria for development financing in the areas of energy districts as well as in brownfield reclamation.

Jim graduated from the University of Denver Law School in 1969 and was admitted to practice in Ohio in 1971, and is admitted in the U.S. District Courts. Jim and his wife, Charlotte, reside in Warren, Trumbull County, Ohio.
